Deadlock map

Every Deadlock match is played on one map, a supernatural Manhattan known as the Cursed Apple (Deadlock Wiki). Since Valve's Map Rework of 25 February 2025 it has three lanes instead of four (Valve), and the City Never Sleeps update of 29 September 2026 gave the whole map a visual overhaul (Valve).

Three lanes

Each lane has a zipline in its colour that runs from base to base. How far your team can ride it depends on how far your troopers have pushed. Between the lanes lie four districts with neutral camps and breakables, usually called the jungle.

York, the yellow lane: a side lane of docks, factories and the Stock Exchange.
Broadway, the blue lane: the middle lane and the shortest route to the enemy base, with the Midboss underneath it.
Greenwich, the green lane: the other side lane, overgrown with trees and vines.

Objectives, in order

Each team has 3 Guardians, 3 Walkers, 6 Base Guardians and 2 Shrines in front of its Patron.

Guardian, the first line of defence in each lane.
Walker, the second.
A pair of Base Guardians.
Two Shrines inside the base. Since the 22 May 2026 update they can't be damaged until one pair of Base Guardians is down (Valve).
The Patron. Destroying the enemy Patron wins the match.

Neutral objectives

Midboss: in the sewer under Broadway. Killing it drops a Rejuvenator crystal that either team can claim.
Unstable Rift: a capture point on one of the side lanes. Holding it gives a large soul reward and summons Rift Troopers; while an enemy stands in the zone, the capture stops at 99%.
Soul Urn: picked up on one side lane and carried to the other for souls and permanent stat buffs. The carrier can't use ziplines, teleporters or tunnel vents.

Getting around

To learn the routes without enemies, Valve added Explore Map with the Map Rework, a mode for running around an empty city (Valve).

Four teleporters, linked in pairs, cross the map after a short wind-up.
Ropes lead onto rooftops, and air vents work as jump pads.
Standing on a steam vent hides you from enemies and heals you a little.
